We have had Christmas and now waiting for the New Year. To be honest I have enjoyed the Christmas celebrations but would be quite happy for a quiet New Year evening, perhaps I am getting too old for all the late nights!
We had hoped to get away in our Motorhome, I know Fred was really looking forward to as it has been such a long time since we have been away. It was not to be though as our eldest daughter and our granddaughter are going to be moving back home with us. It is only temporary till she finds a house nearby but we don't want her to rush into a decision. We had a look at a couple of properties today both were apartments.
Most important is to get Yasmin settled in to our local school.
All the family are going to be helping and I am sure that Tash is making the right decision Although it is not going to easy getting away.
Hopefully we will get away soon. I had the book Dear Fatty by Dawn French and can't wait to get cosy and have a read.
Louise is already busy so credit crunch hasn't hit us yet. It is a different picture elsewhere. Fred has still been doing the driving job and will do more in the new year.

Back to work today
It was nice getting back into the swing of things having been off work with flu for two weeks. It is getting busier at the shopping center and Father Christmas arrived in a procession at his Grotto which is just across the way from where I sit. All the children were so excited, I wish my Keeley could have seen it. Yasmin is getting a bit too old for the make believe stuff as she is 10 now. I remember when our children were little we told them if you don't believe Santa doesn't come, simple as that. Creeping up stairs with the pillowslips of creaking presents and leaving a carrot mince pie and sherry near the fireplace.
This year for the first time we are going out for xmas dinner, It is our daughter and son-in-law's present to us. It means I will be free to visit my son and his family, the twins first Christmas. My other daughter is going to New York for xmas, with her partner and Yasmin which will be fantastic for them...
Tomorrow I have an appointment at Mk Hospital for a pre op health check so that I will then be ready for my Partial Knee replacement (Oxford Uni ) I hope it will be sooner rather then later as I am fed up with having to keep resting my leg because of swelling. It is difficult to bend and more difficult to get up again.

Saturday Night X Factor
I love Saturday nights because we can unwind in front of the tv and be entertained with Strictly Come Dancing and straight after with X Factor.
Tonight is different as I am watching it on my own and it is not quite the same. My other half had the opportunity to do a Taxi job and with Xmas coming the money will come in handy. I don't know how he will get on as it is a mini bus full of women going out on a hen night in Birmingham , then he will have to wait 4 hours for them to come out and then take them back to London. Heaven know what time he will get home.
Funny thing is I had already prepared our dinner in a one pot casserole dish so it has had to go outside the back door as it won't fit in the fridge. Hopefully as it is cast iron a cat wouldn't be able to get the lid off to get to the chicken.(unless he gets his friends round)
I am waiting to go in to hospital for a partial knee replacement so have tried to get ahead with my Christmas shopping and it is such a nice feeling when you have got them sorted.
My daughter picked me up yesterday and took me to see her new unit at Mk shopping center which looked absolutely fantastic. Her Dad and Mark and Lynn had all worked hard on the change over and the old unit looked so tired in comparison Louise had chosen some fantastic fabrics and wallpaper with matching voile's. I can't wait to get back there and start selling..

New Shopping Center Mall Unit
We have been working all this week on a new unit selling made to measure curtains, blinds and shutters, which my daughter is opening tomorrow. It is a brand new concept type of unit that has doors that open outwards, and the displays fixed to them. She has worked so hard along with her Dad to make sure that the displays look fantastic.
Tonight when she has is happy with the way it looks we are going to have a glass of wine and a few nibbles. Louise has got a great eye for putting fabrics together and even if I say so myself a great personality.
I will be starting back to work there on Monday so I will have to know how to open it up. It will be much more comfortable then the last one.
I like to make bags and fun aprons with some of the remnants so as not to waste the off cuts.I am always looking on the net for different ideas as what to do with them.

The glad game
Hi
This is my first blog so please be patient...
I have been at home with the dreaded flu but am feeling much better now but while I was confined to bed watched the film Pollyanna and it was so heartwarming. On the theme of concentrating on what you have got to be glad about. This can be tough at times I know but I am so lucky to have a healthy family, to have job I enjoy and a kind loving husband. Not to say everything is perfect because it isn't.
It is great to do something for somebody without expecting anything in return.
I have recently become a grandmother to twins girls which were born premature, but they are coming on nicely after a spell in hospital with breathing difficulty's. I had to keep well away while I had my cold but managed to do some batch cooking and sent it over for them. My son is a very helpful Dad and he does the night shift, they also have another little girl of 4 years old + an Airdale Dog. Life for them can only get easier but I am so proud of them all.
